Fauntine Lariba - Osteopath
Fauntine enjoys the challenge of treating a variety of patients and conditions, helping them move away from pain and towards function. Since graduating from the Masters of Osteopathic Medicine she has worked in a variety of locations in Victoria including Carlton North, Collins Street CBD, South Gippsland and the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. She has been fortunate to work with a wide variety of patients from a wide variety of socio economic backgrounds.
Across the years Fauntine has fine tuned her philosophy towards treatment: do no harm, identify the root cause of pain and dysfunction, treat the person as a whole and establish productive habits. She strives for quality over quantity because this approach delivers the best results.
Fauntine’s framework for treatment in the head and upper body area could be condensed into three sections:
Airway compromise
Neural compromise
Biomechanical compromise
“The body is a clever adaptation machine and keeping the airways open to ensure that the vital organs receive oxygen is its main priority- everything else comes second. This could result in the body adopting painful postures, tightening of muscles and other aches and pains around the body in order to maintain airway patency.
Symptom management and reducing pain is integral to Osteopathy treatment. However our treatment should go further as we uncover the underlying root cause of the pain and dysfunction. The body doesn’t just start hurting or stop working when it wants to, there is always a reason why the pain started and another reason for why it hasn’t resolved.
Addressing lingering habits and behaviours related to biomechanics, neuromuscular and musculoskeletal imbalances is a large part of our work. This is where Osteopathy can truly shine with our extensive hands-on treatment options, exercise prescription and ability to understand the body as a whole. Sound movement patterns are primary for creating a safe and strong foundation, moving us towards function and away from pain.”
